Archives For Admissions

Congratulations on being a #WITCOMMIT!

You’re probably wondering, what’s next?  Here are some important dates and deadlines to keep on your radar.

1.  Activate your Wentworth email address: Now that our deposit deadline has passed, your Wentworth email is ready for use! To activate your email, click the email link in the top right hand corner of your LConnect home page or visit email.wit.edu. Enter your username which can be found at the bottom of your acceptance letter, and your temporary password which is the same as the temporary password for LConnect. Once you login, make sure you follow the instructions to change your password. Once your Wentworth email is active, be proactive and check it often. From here on out, this is how we will communicate with you.

Having technical issues? Contact our Division of Technology Services (DTS) at 617-989-4500.

2. Register for Orientation by June 9: At this point, you should have received an email from the Office of Student Engagement Attending New Student Orientation (NSO) is mandatory, and fun! It is your opportunity to explore campus and make connections with other members of the class of #WIT2021. You will also learn which courses you will be taking in your first semester and how to register for them. Read more about what to expect at Orientation here!

Transfer Students: Transfer students are invited and encouraged to attend a transfer orientation on July 25. More information will come at a later date!

International Students: We understand the high cost of travel, so we also do not require International Students to attend New Student Orientation. We do require International Students to attend Welcome Week and International Student Orientation which will take place right before the start of classes.

Questions about NSO? Email orientation@wit.edu

3. Living on Campus?  Complete the Housing Agreement and Roommate Questionnaire: Both the housing agreement and roommate matching questionnaire will become available to students on June 1. Students are not required to participate in the roommate questionnaire. Students are welcome to room with a friend from high school or someone that they meet at orientation. The questionnaire is a means of pairing students up with a roommate based on living preferences.

4. E-Bills available on June 21: Log into LConnect to access your bill. Students should also remember to assign their parent as a proxy on their account, especially if their parent is paying the bill.

E-Bill questions?  Contact the Student Service Center 617-989-4020 or ssc@wit.edu.

5. Housing Selection July 10-15: Students will be notified of their housing selection slot, which will specify their date and time to choose housing. If you have already found a roommate at NSO (yay!), the student with the earlier selection time will place both themselves and their roommate in a room.

Wondering about housing?  Contact Housing & Residential Life 617-989-4160 or housing@wit.edu.

6. Documents Due August 3: Fall 2017 bill, immunization form, and student insurance plan waiver or insurance enrollment form are due on this day.

For more information, contact the Student Service Center 617-989-4020 or ssc@wit.edu.

Official High School Transcripts with the date of graduation should be submitted to the admissions office once they are available. This document certifies that you have successfully completed high school and are eligible to attend Wentworth this coming fall. This document has to be an official transcript from your high school.

*Please note: Transfer students are required to submit their final College transcripts before enrolling in the Fall.

Electronic documents submitted through an official document transfer service (i.e. Common App or Naviance) are acceptable.

Documents may also be submitted by mail to Admissions at the following address:

If you have received your acceptance to Wentworth, congratulations! We are anxiously awaiting the opportunity to welcome the class of 2021! Many of you are probably wondering what happens after you officially receive your acceptance to Wentworth. We have comprised a timeline of “next steps” in the admission and decision-making process.

Priority Deadline: Wentworth operates on rolling admissions, however we do have a priority deadline of February 15. Completing an application before February 15 ensures you a space in the major of your choosing, if you are accepted to the institution. If you have recently completed an application and have not yet heard from us, please try to be patient as the admissions team is working hard to review applications in a timely manner. If you would like to check the status of your application, feel free to reach out to your admissions counselor.

Financial Aid: This is often an area of concern for students and families when trying to make their final enrollment decision. At Wentworth, more than 75% of our students receive federal financial aid and 100% of students receive a merit scholarship. For families who have not yet filed a FAFSA, we recommend that you do so ASAP! We understand that applying for need-based financial aid can be a confusing and overwhelming process. Our financial aid counselors are here to address your concerns. Your financial aid counselor can be reached by phone or email. Understand that our Financial Aid Office receives a high volume of calls and emails in the spring semester, so please allow a few days for your counselor to follow up with you. If you have general questions, refer to the financial aid section of our website. Financial aid awards will not be mailed to students until mid-to-late March, 2017.

Events: This spring, we will be hosting several events for admitted students. Our Accepted Student Days will be held on Friday, March 24 and Friday, March 31. All students who have been accepted to Wentworth will be receiving formal invitations to the event. If you know you will be attending, please make sure to RSVP so that we know to expect you. Wentworth also invites accepted students to shadow classes of a current Wentworth student in their anticipated major. For more information or to request a shadow day, please refer to the accepted student website. The link can be found in your acceptance packet.

Deadline to #CommitToWIT: May 1, 2017 is the deadline to submit your tuition and housing deposit. We cannot guarantee that housing will be available to students who submit their housing deposit after the May 1 deadline. To deposit, you can submit a check or pay online. Instructions for submitting your deposit can be found on the back of your grey enrollment form in your acceptance packet.

Don’t forget to engage with us on twitter and Instagram and let us know if you’re excited to attend Wentworth by using the hashtag #WITAdmit!

Fall at Wentworth

October 26, 2016 — Leave a comment

Fall is upon us! If you haven’t visited Wentworth, now is a great time to do so! We have tons of different opportunities to visit campus including: campus tours, academic information sessions, and of course—Open House!

Campus tours:
The undergraduate admissions office offers campus tours Mondays-Fridays at 10 a.m and 2 p.m, as well as some select Saturdays! We do ask that you register in advance so we know to expect you. Our campus tours are given by our student Admissions Ambassadors and typically run for one hour. You will have the opportunity to see our academic areas, fitness center, newly renovated library, residence halls, and more! Our student Admissions Ambassadors are excited to share their experiences at Wentworth with prospective students. Admissions Counselors are always available to answer any additional questions after the tour.

Academic Information Sessions:
In order to make the most out of your visit to Wentworth, we encourage students to visit on a day that we offer the information session that fits their interests. Throughout the week, we offer academic information sessions for all of our different majors. The information sessions are given by a faculty member in the academic department and will provide students with the opportunity to learn more about the program, ask questions, and make connections with professors. You do need to sign up for the information session separately. Information session days and times can be found on the visit calendar along with the campus tours.

Open House:
For any students interested in Wentworth, Open House is a must attend! We will be running two Open Houses this fall on Sunday, October 30 and Sunday, November 20. Students and families will have the opportunity to go on a campus tour, attend academic information sessions, learn more about the admissions process, co-op program, financial aid, and more! Registration opens at 8:30 a.m and concludes around 2:00 p.m. Families should plan to be on campus for the duration of the event to ensure they are able to attend all of the information sessions that interest them. We will also provide a light continental breakfast and a delicious buffet lunch! Please register in advance for either of our Open Houses!

Virtual Tour:
We know some of you won’t be able to make it to campus this fall due to distance, so we’ve made it possible for you to “visit” campus without even leaving your house. Follow this link to experience our virtual tour! If you happen to have a VR headset at home, you can use it and view the tour on your phone for the full virtual reality experience!

We hope to see you on campus this fall! If you have any questions, feel free to contact the admissions office at admissions@wit.edu or call 617-989-4000. We are always here to help!

Welcome Wentworth Class of 2020! We have some awesome Accepted Student events coming up. We hope to see you there! #WITAdmit

Accepted Students Day:

What: Accepted Student Day is an important event to attend if you are considering Wentworth for Fall 2016 whether or not you have already visited campus. There will be a variety of information sessions throughout ASD. We will also run “Ask the Experts” panels, one specifically for students and another for parents. ASD is a great opportunity to get all of your questions answered, whether about co-op, student life, transitioning to city living, homework, or even the food on campus. If you are wondering how you can get involved on campus, look no further, student clubs and organizations will be available to speak with potential new members for Fall 2016 including Society of Women Engineers, Competitive Video Gaming Club, and American Society of Mechanical Engineers, just to name a few!

Make sure to bring your appetite, we will have a continental breakfast and lunch buffet. We will also run campus tours continuously throughout the day for students who haven’t had a chance to visit campus, or want to take a second look! Don’t be nervous to break the ice and introduce yourself to other accepted students. Everyone is apprehensive about starting college in the Fall. Developing lifelong friendships is one of the most rewarding aspects of the college experience. Someone sitting next to you during a session on Accepted Student Day might end up being your freshman roommate!

When: Friday, March 25 and Friday, April 1

Why: ASD is a great opportunity to determine if Wentworth is the best fit for your educational needs.

How: If you haven’t yet registered for Accepted Student Day, there is still time! Sign up through our Accepted Student website or by calling the Admissions Office (617-989-4000). Lastly, if you’re excited about attending Accepted Student Day, let us know on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram by using the #WITASD and #WITADMIT hashtags!

Shadow Program:

Who: Students who have been accepted for Fall 2016.

Why:  Attending a Shadow Day at Wentworth is a great way to determine if you can truly see yourself as a student here. It is also a great way to see if the major you are considering is everything you had hoped for!

What: You may be asking yourself, “What is a typical day-in-the-life of a Wentworth student?” A Shadow Day will answer this question for you! We will match you with a current Wentworth student in your major and you will have the opportunity to shadow their classes for the day, as well as dine on campus!

When/How: Our Shadow Day program concludes on April 8th and we do request that students give us at least 2 weeks’ notice to ensure that we can organize the most informational day possible! You can sign up for a Shadow Day through our Accepted Student website or by calling Admissions.

Last but not least…

Our Financial Aid Office is working hard to send all of your Financial Aid awards ASAP! Remember to check your email periodically because we will be reaching out to you when your Financial Aid award is ready to be viewed on LConnect. You will receive a hard copy in the mail as well. If you have any specific questions regarding Financial Aid, make sure you reach out to your Financial Aid counselor directly.

If you absolutely can’t wait to be a Leopard, you can deposit for tuition and housing through LConnect now! Our deadline to deposit for tuition and housing is May 1st. Depositing for tuition and housing by or before May 1st ensures you a spot in the class of 2020 and in our residence halls.

As always, reach out to the Wentworth Admissions Office with any questions or concerns, we are always here to help. We look forward to meeting all of you soon!

Happy Spring…Semester!

There is a lot for high school seniors to consider at this time of year. If you are still in the process of applying to Wentworth—don’t panic! We practice rolling admission, so students can apply at anytime until our majors are full. We do have a priority deadline of February 15, though.  This means that we do not guarantee space in any major if you apply after this date. It is definitely a good idea to make sure we have received a completed application from you by February 15. If you are unsure if we have received all required documents, follow up with your Admissions Counselor.

If you have been accepted, and have not yet thought about financial aid, now is a good time to start! You should complete your FAFSA (free application for federal student aid) as soon as possible. We do not require the CSS profile in addition to the FAFSA. March 1 is the priority deadline to apply for federal financial aid. The earlier that you apply, the earlier that you will receive your financial aid award from us. Typically, students that apply for financial aid in January should receive their financial aid package by the end of March. Financial aid can be a very confusing process, especially if you are the first in your family to attend college. Our Financial Aid Office is here to help. There is a lot of helpful information available to you through Wentworth’s Financial Aid Blog as well as some additional resources on our website. And, you can always reach out to your Financial Aid counselor. If you are not sure who that is, call the student service center at 1-800-222-9368 or e-mail ssc@wit.edu. To look for additional funding, we recommend checking out Fastweb Scholarships to see what types of scholarships you might be eligible to apply for. This is free money, so it is worth taking advantage of!

As always, if you have any questions feel free to reach out to us by emailing admissions@wit.edu or calling 617-989-4000.
