Welcome Wentworth Class of 2020! We have some awesome Accepted Student events coming up. We hope to see you there! #WITAdmit

Accepted Students Day:

What: Accepted Student Day is an important event to attend if you are considering Wentworth for Fall 2016 whether or not you have already visited campus. There will be a variety of information sessions throughout ASD. We will also run “Ask the Experts” panels, one specifically for students and another for parents. ASD is a great opportunity to get all of your questions answered, whether about co-op, student life, transitioning to city living, homework, or even the food on campus. If you are wondering how you can get involved on campus, look no further, student clubs and organizations will be available to speak with potential new members for Fall 2016 including Society of Women Engineers, Competitive Video Gaming Club, and American Society of Mechanical Engineers, just to name a few!

Make sure to bring your appetite, we will have a continental breakfast and lunch buffet. We will also run campus tours continuously throughout the day for students who haven’t had a chance to visit campus, or want to take a second look! Don’t be nervous to break the ice and introduce yourself to other accepted students. Everyone is apprehensive about starting college in the Fall. Developing lifelong friendships is one of the most rewarding aspects of the college experience. Someone sitting next to you during a session on Accepted Student Day might end up being your freshman roommate!

When: Friday, March 25 and Friday, April 1

Why: ASD is a great opportunity to determine if Wentworth is the best fit for your educational needs.

How: If you haven’t yet registered for Accepted Student Day, there is still time! Sign up through our Accepted Student website or by calling the Admissions Office (617-989-4000). Lastly, if you’re excited about attending Accepted Student Day, let us know on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram by using the #WITASD and #WITADMIT hashtags!

Shadow Program:

Who: Students who have been accepted for Fall 2016.

Why:  Attending a Shadow Day at Wentworth is a great way to determine if you can truly see yourself as a student here. It is also a great way to see if the major you are considering is everything you had hoped for!

What: You may be asking yourself, “What is a typical day-in-the-life of a Wentworth student?” A Shadow Day will answer this question for you! We will match you with a current Wentworth student in your major and you will have the opportunity to shadow their classes for the day, as well as dine on campus!

When/How: Our Shadow Day program concludes on April 8th and we do request that students give us at least 2 weeks’ notice to ensure that we can organize the most informational day possible! You can sign up for a Shadow Day through our Accepted Student website or by calling Admissions.

Last but not least…

Our Financial Aid Office is working hard to send all of your Financial Aid awards ASAP! Remember to check your email periodically because we will be reaching out to you when your Financial Aid award is ready to be viewed on LConnect. You will receive a hard copy in the mail as well. Understandably, winter is not the most desirable season to live in Boston. Boston is notorious for frigid temperatures and way too much snow. It is important to not let the winter weather get you down. There is always something fun to do in Boston, no matter what the season! Here are some favorite, budget-friendly winter activities from the Wentworth Admissions Staff.

  • Ice Skating on the Frog Pond at the Boston Common: Admission is $5 and skate rental is an additional $9. Tuesdays are college nights! Bring your Wentworth ID and pay only $2.
  • Tour some architecture: The Boston Public Library offers free tours highlighting the architecture of the historic building. The tour lasts about an hour and leaves from the Dartmouth Street entrance. Check the library’s website for days and times.
  • Attend a sporting event: Support your Leopards! Check our the Wentworth Athletics events calendar to see when there are local games. You can also check out the Info Hub for discounted Bruins and Celtics tickets!
  • Indoor rock climbing: If you are feeling cooped up and craving some adventure, check out Rock Spot Climbing in South Boston. A day pass is only $20 with your student ID.
  • Broaden your horizons at the Museum of Fine Arts: The MFA is one of the most comprehensive art museums in the world and is home to nearly 500,000 works of art! The museum is always free with your student ID.
  • Take the plunge at the New England Aquarium: Admission with your student ID is only $24.95 and only $29.95 if you also want to see an IMAX movie!
  • Check out the Boston Public Market: At BPM you will find fresh, locally grown food even during the coldest months of the year! The Market is located at 100 Hanover St. and is accessible by the T at Haymarket Station.
  • Get up, Get energized: It’s challenging to feel motivated to exercise during the winter months. Venture out of your comfort zone and check out these Boston-area fitness classes. Your first class is free! Don’t forget, we also have awesome group exercise classes offered right here at Wentworth, also free of charge!

Happy Winter!

Scooperbowl 2014

Scooperbowl 2014

It has been an absolutely glorious Spring thus far in Boston which is a well-deserved thaw after a frigid winter.  Let’s hope the Farmer’s Almanac proves true for a hotter-than-normal summer and a warm, dry Fall.  There are so many wonderful free and inexpensive activities that happen in and around Boston during the summer.  We thought we’d share a short list of some of our staff’s favorites:

All-you-can-eat ice cream for a great cause.
Explore Boston by Paddle
“If music be the food of love, play on.” Twelfth Night on the Boston Common.
Castles, complete with Rapunzel, made ONLY of sand.
And last, but certainly not least, Red Bull cliff diving off of the ICA

What will you do to enjoy the summer?
