Blackboard Discussion Boards: Slow Response Time

Issues and Resolutions: We are currently experiencing slow response times with the Discussion Boards within Blackboard Learn. UMassOnline is currently working with Blackboard Engineers to resolve the issue.

Estimated Timeframe: Currently no estimate from UMassOnline or Blackboard.

User Impact: When people click on the Discussion Board link from the course menu that links to a list of all forums, there have been reports of extreme slowness in loading the list.
Right now, once the list is loaded after the delay, and people get into the discussion it is working at normal speed.

If users click on a direct link to a forum (such as from a content area or in the weekly modules in our template for CPCE courses) the slowness does not appear to be a problem.

Technical Details: UMOL is currently working with Blackboard to resolve this issue. They have identified the cause as specific long running queries on the database. The problem appears to be isolated to the discussion boards at this time.
