Our strategic objective is to build relationships across the institute to ensure that technology solutions are creating opportunities to improve effectiveness and efficiencies and are agile enough to facilitate innovation.
IT’s focus must become more functional and less technical. Our value will be realized as we solve business problems, not just by implement technology. While this is not a profound statement and is obvious, the next question is, “What are we doing to change our internal culture and to develop our IT personnel?” Are we being intentional about this development or are we just hoping it will happen over time?
Fasten your seat belts! The next 3-5 years, for IT professionals, will be some the most difficult years yet. The user community will want to get more value out of what we’ve built and they will want it to be flexible and customized. In a sense, we’re going to be victims of our own success. IT value will come in providing business leadership, simplicity, and improved data integration.
