Hope you all had a great holiday and that 2016 will be a good year for you!
I went back home to Sweden over the break. It was fun to see my family and friends again! Even though it was over three months ago we last saw each other it felt like I had never been gone. It was pretty hard to find the time to hang out though because I worked a lot and the colleges in Sweden does not have the same system as we do over here. Instead of having all their finals before Christmas they have their exams the first week they get back in January, which means that those of my friends who goes to college have to study during break. I think that being all done in the middle of December is way better because it gives you the opportunity to really relax over the break, or like in my case work which would not have been possible if I had to study for exams at the same time. After a couple of weeks filled with work I really started to miss Boston and my friends over here. I wish that all of my friends from Sweden would move to Boston so that I could have all of my favorites around me all the time!
Anyway! I got accepted to Wentworth for a major in Construction management, but after speaking to a friend here who’s in Facilities planning and management I decided to change my major. The difference between those two majors aren’t huge and some of the classes are the same but basically Facilities is more business related and Construction focuses more on the work at the construction site, therefore I thought that Facilities would fit me better. The change went really smooth and easy. After speaking to my friend I looked at the course schedule for Facilities and compared it to the one I had in Construction. I then went to talk to my academic advisor and a teacher in Facilities management to make sure that I made the right decision. After that I had to fill out some papers and drop my old classes and sign up for the new ones, and here I am! Since the difference between Construction management and Facilities management is so small (at least the first semester Freshman year) I only missed one class last semester that I will have to take next fall, but the chemistry I took will count as a future science elective so I’m not too worried about that. To be able to switch majors you have to have a GPA over 2.0 on a scale 0-4.0, that might be good to know if you’d ever consider changing.
